The Great Athletes programme is run by Sportivater Limited, a social enterprise that has partnered with The Palmer Primary Academy to organise a fundraising event led by an elite athlete. This event aims to support greater physical activity and provide an inspirational role model for pupils.
Great Athletes’ mission is to inspire children to be active, resilient, and healthy, while supporting elite athletes to train and inspire the next generation.
The Palmer Primary Academy will pay Great Athletes a share of the funds raised. On average this fee works out at £2.80 per pupil for schools with similar demographic profiles. This payment supports athletes, helps administer the programme, and advances our social mission. The payment is made up of a per-pupil fee plus a 40% share of the remaining funds raised which means that in occasional situations (under 5%) all donations will go to Great Athletes, and Great Athletes will cover any shortfall. There is never a minimum fee and Great Athletes will never turn down a request to run an athlete event, even where there is no prospect of the fee covering the costs of running the event.
The Palmer Primary Academy will receive 60% of the remaining funds as a voucher to spend on activities, services or equipment to promote physical activity. Unused vouchers will support Great Athletes’ charitable grants programme.
To date Great Athletes have inspired over 3 million children and raised over £6,500,000 for schools!
